Today's Forecast: Rain With A Side Of YouTube Videos
Holy rainstorms Batman! Charlotte got hit big time yesterday. It's not often you see the streets FLOODED. It's also not often you see it below 80 degrees in Charlotte in July, but today's high is only 79.
This weather calls for breakfast in bed!
I love avocados. I really love stuffed avocados. Today I stuffed mine with eggs, goat cheese crumbles, cherry tomatoes & bacon crumbles. Add my favorite book, The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch that I’m reading for the 25+ time and BAM: I'm in my happy place! It’s such good perspective, written by a man dying of incurable cancer. How ironic that my family is dealing with incurable cancer. I never would have thought that the first time I watched this lecture that it would play such an important roll in my life regarding my mother's battle. His outlook on life is one that we should all have. There are so many good quotes; I don't think I can pick a favorite. Thankfully my mother has a similar outlook. Basically, it is what it is. These are her cards and she is playing the hand. And always with a smile. In fact, for the first 3 years she had breast cancer, I would have never known she was sick unless she had told me. Not a lot gets her down. That is one thing, among many, that I get from her.
I remember seeing Randy on Oprah years ago and seeing his last lecture at Carnegie Mellon University. It was life changing. As corny as that sounds, it was! If you ever get the time to sit and watch this, do it.
“We cannot change the cards we are dealt, just how we play the hand"
“We cannot change the cards we are dealt, just how we play the hand.” I think about that quote a lot. Life is like playing a strategic game of chess...& I’m no Bobby Fisher. I’m just trying to find the good in each day, be happy and give back.
“When it comes to men who are romantically interested in you, it’s really simple. Just ignore everything they say and only pay attention to what they do.” ― Randy Pausch, The Last Lecture
As I sit here and re-watch this video, I'm optimistic. I have to be. I have faith. The know that the sun that rises every morning brings a new day. It brings me hope. Hope for a better tomorrow. I’m not discounting the pain that my family is dealing with, but there’s still so much to be thankful for if you look closely. In all the bad, there is good. I thank God every day to be able to live in this crazy world alongside people like you who make it so beautiful for people like me. My hope is that I do the same for you, too!
Happy Saturday everyone.
Go do something good for the world ♥️
