Visiting The Honeycomb Hideaway
Last night I had to go see Kemba & the boys take on the New Orleans Pelicans. And let me tell ya, the Hive was alive. Fans were hype and Hugo is crazy. I love that energetic bee. He was on tables and ladders and the kids ate it up.
I have to say I am so happy to hear they are not shopping Kemba; he’s basically the reason I still watch the NBA. He is the heart and soul of our team. I was recently talking to a friend about how I absolutely love college basketball, but that pro ball just doesn't do it for me. I still go to games, but I don't love it like I love college hoops. It's like watching a bunch of giants in slow-mo play. And I know these guys are athelets, but compared to college players, they are slow-er. Except Kemba. He's fast like a snake in the grass. He's entertaining. Although I am excited to see what Howard does. His shoulders are INSANE! It's like he has built in shoulder pads ... that are muscle. Kemba will always be my #1. Please do not trade him MJ. Charlotte needs him!
Speaking of the NBA, can we talk officiating? There were some really *bleep calls last night! Just when you think the NFL has the worst officiating, the NBA refs are like “watch this!” Where do they find these guys? It was obivious towards the end of the game, which was close, that there were some BAD calls made. You could see that Kemba was upset with the refs, but he remained calm. The fans, not so much. The BOO's were loud.
Even though we lost (121-116), it was great hanging with BDB @terrenceb13 & great seeing SO many familiar faces. I saw friends from high school and college and I really enjoyed visiting the new team store. If you haven't been, check it out. It looks so much better than the old store. It's lit; like bright lights so everything in the store pops. And if you show them your ticket and tell them you are a season ticket holder, you get 30% off.
They have anything and everything Hornets (all the old school stuff) that you could ever want. **Someone even purchased some new fancy Hornet's socks (that he had to put on immediately). We really enjoyed ourselves and it's nice to move on from football season to the basketball season. I can see March Madness on the horizon - squeals!
Also, we scored more than 95 points, so 1/2 off at Papa John's today! Go get your pizza. Boom - you are welcome Hornet's Nation.
And I may biased, but I think Charlotte has the best fans ever.
Till next time.
