Baseball Is Back In Uptown

This Monday morning started off with Chicago-like temperatures. Fingers crossed it warms up before tonight's game. The Charlotte Knights take on the Chicago White Sox tonight in their 4th exhibition game since 2015. The White Sox and Knights began their affiliation during the 1999 season. The affiliation is the fourth longest in their league and runs through the 2020 season. As part of the teams homage to the White Sox, the Knights will celebrate their 20th season with a comm

I've Got My Love Locked On Charlotte

There’s something about this time of year that gets me excited. The city feels like it has been frozen & lonely; I feel like it is about to wake up & come alive. “Love is the Master key that opens the gates of happiness” - @oliverwholmes Warm nights when my friends and I head to the Knights baseball park (exhibition game 3/26) or hop around from food trucks to alleyway bars to throw darts or play corn hole are just around the corner. Summer in the Carolinas is my absolute fav

If The Walls At The Daily Tavern Could Talk

🎤Sweet dreams are made of cheese, who am I to diss a Brie? Charcuterie board for the win last night! I stopped by The Daily Tavern, a watering hole that opened in December to catch up with a friend. We snacked on this yummy charcuterie board and beef jerky in a Mason jar. The menu was outstanding; I love that it’s not typical bar food. The Daily location has soooo many fun memories for me. Where are my Charlotteans ? In 2000, The Rhino Club opened in this space and was pret

My Queen / My City / My Home

I don’t know why am drawn to train tracks, but I am. They remind me of my grandfather; he loved them. These train tracks go right by where he worked for 40+ years at Johnson Motor Lines on 28th Street & Graham Street. The building is still there. The train usually comes right around 4:45pm. I always wave at the guy like I’m 6 years old. They always blow the horn. It’s loud. It reminds me of the TRAAAAAAIN scene in Stand By Me. I love coming down here to clear my head. There’s

Help Find Kyle - 10 Years Later

It's been 10 years since Kyle Fleischmann went missing from Uptown Charlotte. 10 long years. Unreal nothing was ever found. And I mean NOTHING. I remember that day and the days after well. Me and a few friends sat at the fire station Uptown on 9th Street as they put together volunteer search crews. I recall his Mom and Dad coming in; his Mother had just been diagnosed with breast cancer and she had just had surgery. They walked in, looking tired and distraught. Worried, as a

204 North Kitchen Is A Hit

I have a new favorite spot to grab a yummy lunch in Uptown. 3 tacos and a side for $10 - SOLD. 204 North does it right! Be sure to stop by and check out their delicious food menu as well as their specialized cocktails menu (I love the Ballentyne). Need a spot to host a party? Their upstairs dining area is perfect. Tons of room with a full bar and a great view of Tryon, it's a perfect spot. Tell Anthony I sent ya! #staytunedqc #204North #Tacos #Lunch #Uptown #SupportLocal #Coc

When Collabs Go Right

Sometimes you get an idea in your head and making that idea transfer to reality is not always successful. This was not the case on Saturday. I had been wanting to collaborate with photographer Eben Patten for some time now so we finally got a date in place, recruited local makeup artist Miriam Anthony and had my friend Dion fly his drone to capture the shoot. We lucked out and it was a beautiful NC sunny day. My goal was to showcase spots where local art was displayed. There

Will Graham Street Pub Open In Time For Collegiate Baseball Uptown

I am wondering when construction is going to start on the Graham Street Pub or if this location is just cursed. Graham Street Pub has been described as the new rooftop bar that is located on Graham Street between Bank of America Stadium and BBT Ballpark (400 S Graham Street). This area needs more bars. With the amount of foot traffic for Carolina Panthers games and Charlotte Knights games, the fans deserve more options. GSP is scheduled to open "Spring 2017" but from what I c

Newcomb/Berryhill Home

If you've ever visited Alexander Michael's in #Uptown's Fourth Ward, you've seen the Berryhill (or Newcomb) Home that is located at 324 West Ninth Street, on the corner of North Pine. I've walked by this home a million times. It's a huge Victorian home that was built in 1884 by John H. Newcomb. There are 6 bedrooms total; 4 original and 2 rooms in a later addition. On the lot next door, his brother George built an identical home that no longer exists. The brothers were from W

A look inside William Treloar House, a relic of old Uptown Charlotte

If you’re in uptown often, you’ve probably driven by the two-story red brick structure at Brevard and Seventh streets. I have always been curious about it. I wondered when a big company would come in and tear it down and build some huge high rise. With construction in Charlotte booming, I wondered what would happen to the home. I wondered about its history. I learned that the red home that sits at 328 N. Brevard St. is known as the William Treloar House. William and Julia Tre

A Sneak Peek Of Ink N Ivy + Its Massive Uptown Patio at Packard Place

Imagine a 7,000 square-foot patio smack dab in the middle of uptown Charlotte, within walking distance to the BB&T Ballpark and Bank of America Stadium. It’s coming. The Bottle Cap Group purchased the old Picasso’s spot at Packard Place on Church Street (the same building as Packard Place) and plans to open Ink N Ivy, a sleek lounge with button tucked booths, wood slab tables and chandeliers. And I got a sneak peak of it earlier this week. Expect a chef-inspired menu, “delect
